It all started when…
I was a young boy and I fell in love with the recorder, just by hearing its sound. And that day I thought: I want to play that too! Born in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and raised in France during my youth, it’s in Bordeaux’s Conservatory - aged 12 - that I started seriously my musical education with teacher Cécile Orsini. Bathed in a dynamic environment with remarkable teachers, I quickly discovered the extent of Early Music and decided to pursue the dream of being a performer.
In 2015, I entered the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland in the class of Prof. Conrad Steinmann where my musical curiosity towards knowledge and practice was deeply fortified. I received advanced medieval training from Corina Marti, and thanks to lessons with Sebastian Goll, also experienced the pleasure and the richness of singing as a baritone, discovering the close relationship between the two practices: voice and recorder. This is certainly something I wish to develop over the next few years.
In 2020, I finalised my master studies in the class of Heiko ter Schegget at Utrecht’s Conservatory where I was able to deeply expand my musical and instrumental knowledge.
As a recorder player, I enjoy performing music from very different periods - from the Middle-Ages and the Renaissance up until the late Baroque, and even contemporary music, - I have had the pleasure to play across Europe in very different settings: as soloist and chamber music settings, in recorder consorts such as Ensemble Désinence (NL/JP), or in orchestras such as Capriccio Barockorchester (CH) or Ensemble Locatelli (IT).
Currently I work in close collaboration with recorder—and harpsichord player—and composer Tim Veldman with whom I form a duo. Together with Tim, we are also part of a newly-formed and eager ensemble called Voci d’Altrove.
